i have a alto emerald one, and it`s kindof fun to play, but it`s to bright for my taste. maybe on a tenor.

synthetic reeds are fun and durable, but they`re a touch soft. i`d say they`re good for marching band or as a portable reed that can take a beating. they`re a nice thing to have, but if you intend to make some good, clean sound, you`re better off with a normal reed.

I agree with Roman. I`d say that synthetic reeds are more for beginners due to there softness, but if you are an experienced player, use a bamboo reed about #3 or #2 1/2.
