so i got to record some stuff last week. a couple friends bought an eleven track digital recorder so we had to break it in a little bit... anyway, i'd like a touch of feedback on what you hear. there's a little bit about the songs on the page, so you may want to read that before you listen, because there are a couple errors. one thing i haven't gotten up there yet is that around the two and a half minute mark and throw the tempo a bit. oh, and my tone isn't all there. i've been debating asking for feedback just because i'm embarassed with the tone. but i've decided, so be it. i know my tone is poor for playing on a sax that was gathering frost. i hope you can deal with it. anyway, yes. i'd love to hear what people have to say. here's the link:

Interesting tune. First of all I applaud you for putting your stuff up for us to hear.
Yes your tone is off in some places. What type of sax are you playing?
One of the reasons that many of us recommend the better sax's Selmer's, Yanagisawa's, Yamaha's etc... is that it will help this, to a certain extent. That being said no sax is perfect, when it comes to intonation. You need to develop a technique called voicing, going into it would take some time but my advice would be to pick up a book by Donald Sinta and Denice Dabney called "Voicing An Approach to the Saxophone's third register " also if your serious get with a private teacher to help you with some of these techniques.

By the name of your tune my guess is that it is a jam on a G7 chord. On something like this add some color by use of chromatics going into a chord tone. F# going to G...etc, just remember to resolve it going into a chord tone or it will sound like a wrong note (for the most part).

I will add a bit more later

i'm rockin a selmer serie 3 pro model. the sax is fine, and i think i've just got a c star for a mouthpiece with it. doesn't help that the mouthpiece is full of filth. gotta run it through the dishwasher. and they didn't have a particularly grand setup. i just had to play into a cheap microphone. i should have warmed the sax up a little more before we started as well. and c's on my horn are all a little flat for some reason. just the nature of my sax. thanks for checking the noise out. the feedback is very appreciated.

and for putting songs on myspace, it's mighty easy. just createt a music profile, go to "edit profile", and the "manage songs". you can upload your stuff there, and the files must be mp3s. and that's that.
