i need a solo for sax and wind ensemble. difficulty is not an issue, i am just looking for any suggestions of a more entertaining piece for the audience while keeping it relatively legit. i will look up any suggestions, so anything you got would be appreciated.

They said sax and wind ensemble. I'm doing something very similar about a year from now. I'm actually doing Scaramouche. There is not an arrangement for band accompanyment but a friend is doing it for me.

it will be me playing the solo, and they will do any backup; like a piano accompaniment.

classical, but as it has to be short (1 mvmnt of a concerto-ish) and also the majority of the audiance will be high schoolers, id like it to be exciting and showoffy...but anything that you guys think is remotely close i will look up

I once played a piece by Clare Grundman called Concertante. It's written for alto and wind ensemble or piano. It might run a little long, but if I'm not mistaken, there are optional cuts that the editor put in to shorten the piece. It's not super hard, but there is altissimo up to a high E at the very end.
