Does anyone know of any music stores that sell LA sax? I live in Oregon and I`ve called about 150 music stores and no one has them. Are they only sold on the internet? Or am I just living in a place that doesn`t have any?

Check Out The Topic Weird Looking Soprano`s and there is a link I put on there of a place that sells LA saxes, it will come up to a page with a tenor, straight bodied(VERY COOL, IF I HADN`T HAVE BOUGHT A NEW SAX JUST A WHILE AGO I WOULD HAVE THIS ONE) then you can search for what you need from that page.

I wouldn`t use LA sax, though. If your`e looking for good looks, fine. They aren`t very good at playing. I would stick to the new Yamahas and Selmers. Or you could look for an SML on Ebay.

What experiance have you had with LA`s that makes you think they don`t sound very good? The one I have is one of the best sounding horns I`ve ever played.
I don`t mean to say that they are all perfect but I`m curious what made you look badly on them. And yes A Selmer or A Yamahah can beat almost anything but for the price it is still a good instrument.

LA saxes, in my opinion, are more of an intermediate horn. It depends on how far you plan on playing. If it is a long range commitment, then I would not choose an LA Sax. All the LA saxes that I have played are not very impressing. My horn blew me away!

Hey Tom! I see you writing that LA Sax is an intermediate horn so does that make artist like Jay Beckenstein, Kim Waters, intermediate players because that is what they play! Am not saying they are the best horn in the world but they sure have improved on the quality of their instrument in the last few years.

BOY, for the anti LA Sax people, I have been playing sax for quite a while, I dont have to rumble off the names of all the other brands I have gone through, I can tell you now, that I have an original LA Sax alto rolled tone holes, too boot, plastic resonators on kid leather pads (Italian) gold laq. that blows the doors off every horn I have played to get that classical and bebop jazz feature, I have a black LA Sax 750 alto for my more modern style, I have a gold laq 750 that I use for practice, and just ordered the 850 tenor for doubling.
when I hear the big four champions down play the notion that there is another line to be reckoned with, I cant help but chuckle, LA Sax can change your position if you would just pick one up and give it a run, that is if its in adjustment. but like all saxes out the box, every new horn should be gone over to make sure they are in adjustment.
just my 2 cent
