As I continue playing my alto sax more more progressively things are really starting to pick up and coming at me. I just played at my second wedding this saturday and I really enjoyed the experience. When i look back how far i came from just a six months ago as not having played with anyone else but my self and now playing with numerous worship groups, bands, people, and a lot more invitations as i start to put my sound out. I have two upcoming weddings within this month. I have an "okay" music base for weddings, but thats just what I know and like. I noticed that something smooth or romantic really fits a wedding scene. I mainly stick to the tunes with really romantic or smooth melody. I started playing some Dave koz pieces that went really well. I realize I can't do this forever and since im limited to the alto sax for now what are some really beautiful songs that will fit a wedding scene? When i talk about wedding im talking about playing solo to a backtrack or with some freinds, but during the reception.
Right now im playing just a basic shure mic on a stand. But i really want to invest in a clip on mic of good quality, but not so heavy price. Any ideas on tunes to play or equipment? tips?
Thanks!

I hate to say this but if your playing at weddings you WILL be asked to play Kenny G tunes. This is also where Lera's repertory will come in handy, really any popular music and well known popular Jazz. As far as equipment goes what are you using now? A Bell mic is the way to go, but be prepared to spend a little. SD mics are very nice.
Good Luck

right know i have a pg48 (very basic)and i play on some other sm's
or relitively same looking mics. I checked out the Sd's and they look as well as sound very impressive. They are a little pricey. The STM is $600.00. What would you recomend i do? I can spend about $250.00 right now. jeez these are not cheap!

My big question is do you need to be mic'd for a wedding? I have to when I playing in a bar environment because the music can get really loud. A wedding/Reception should be a bit quieter, and we can play quite loud. However tone starts to go as we play louder. If you do need a mic you don't have to buy the best one on the market. Test some out if you can and see what you like. Unless your in a recording studio you are probably not going to hear much difference between a $600 and a $200 one. That is just my opinion.
