I've just started learning alto sax and was beginning to get my first scales sounding not so bad (the odd squeak now and again...). I got my sax in Scotland and flew back home to Houston. When I went through my scales again, my g was now a g#, not just playing a little sharp, but a semitone out. I don't really know much about maintenance yet, it doesn't look like anything has obviously snapped or stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is it a take it to a repair shop job? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Conn-Selmer beginner's alto saxophone, I don't have the precise model number to hand. It has the standard mouthpiece that came with it. But it's exactly the same equipment from which I could get the proper notes and scales from when I was in Britain. Now, it's over here, it's just not right. I've checked for obvious sticking keys or broken parts, but I can't see anything, and I have double and triple checked my fingering, so it shouldn't be that. Having said that, it is actually quite a nice sounding scale!

Okay, my Saxophone is a Selmer Prelude AS701. Has anyone had any problems similar to mine with this model?
