Hi folks. I'm about to buy a Soprano sax. Probably one of the student type models from WWBW as I'm on a budget. I was just wondering, should I also consider buying a mouthpiece? I see WWBW has some very well priced mouth pieces that are described as being very good on their site (Rico Royale, Yamaha etc... ($15-$30) Just wondering if this is a worthwhile investment at this point or if I should wait until I get the hang of it some more. (Played tenor sax yeasr ago but haven't picked up an instrument in like 10 years)

Many thanks!
Greg.

Hello Greg,

WWBW has a pretty good selection of mouthpieces.

WWBW has a trial. I believe they allow you to try five or so mouthpieces at a time. Although they charge your credit card during the trial, and when you return the ones you aren't going to buy they discharge the credit from your card.

I think it's a good program, it worked for me.

You may want to check their website that explains the: Instrument Trial Returns ... here is the link http://www.wwbw.com/CustomerService/csReturn_policy.aspx

enjoy,

Thanks everyone. The trial option sounds great but a little tricky for me as I'm in Australia so shipping can get costly. But certrainly something to keep in mind in future. I think I'll stick with the one that comes standard for now and go from there.

cheers!

Greg,

I agree it can get a little pricey. If the existing mouthpiece works then some decent reeds may tide you over.

It seems like mouthpieces and reeds are a continuing drama for a saxophone player.

Cheers,
