Hi!

I've been thinking of learning to play the saxophone for quite some time. I've started playing the piano three months ago, just because we already had one, but now the need for a saxophone is rising again...

So, I have a few beginner questions:
Where can I find decent free lessons on the internet? I don't think my parents would appreciate me wanting another teacher (as I already have one for the piano, and they think it's quite expensive), so I think I'd better learn it from the internet.
And what should I be expecting to spend on a new saxophone? I wouldn't buy the most expensive one obviously, but if I'm going to start playing it, I'm taking it seriously and so I'm not going to buy a Dinky Toy saxophone either...
And if anyone has any tips or other things that I should know before starting, they would be welcome too

Thanks in advance!

Try Yamaha YTS series, they are student models but they are quality instruments.
As far as lessons online, I don't know, but nothing is better than one on one instruction.

Well, I've found shop that sells second hand saxophones, and I can buy one for 500 euros (about £300-350). So, would this be a reasonable price for a beginner second hand sax?

Ok, a new event in my quest for a saxophone: I found a new saxophone here for only €459. Now, I'm a complete newbie, so I can't tell the difference between absolute crap and the chance of a lifetime. Therefor, I kindly ask you to judge this instrument for me :

I mean the saxophone of course

Anyway, I'll translate the text for the ones who aren't that good at reading dutch:
- alto saxophone, gold lacquered finish
- F sharp
- front-F mechanism
- adjustable thumb rest
- I don't know how to translate this, but it means it's got a picture cut into the "body". I think "engraved" is the word
- ABS suitcase

So, is this a great deal, or just a load of Chinese crap (as the shopkeeper of the secondhand shop told me to beware of Chinese stuff )

And, probably the last, yet another question: I've found a shop that sells new saxes for €400. This would be cool, but again, I don't know the quality of the thing of course. He told me the brand, but stupidly, I forgot...
Anyway, here are the brands sold by the shop. I don't think the brand of the 400 euro sax is between them, but if all these brands are a load of crap, then probably the other one is too...:)

Ok, I've asked again, and for the brand he gave "Evette (Buffet Crampon)". So, does anyone know if an Evette is a decent sax, and if €400 is a reasonable price?

There are 40 some lessons with accompanying audo file you can play along, save them to ur pc and burn them to a cd if you want. They arv ery goodlessons for a newbie and tons of greta info obn his site. You need a fingering chart though.
