Yes use jaw vibrato when playing the saxophone. The best way to describe it is to say "va va va va" while playing, after awhile it will become more comfortable. Be careful when playing vibrato in a large ensemble though, you will normally want to play with a straight tone unless your playing a solo, or playing through an expressive passage.

Good Luck

Congratulations on making the orchestra!!

I agree with CJ. Use vibrato through parts of the piece with expression; make sure to make the vibrato slower when playing softer and faster when playing louder (that's what my music teacher told me).

Good luck!!

vibrato in a concert band is not always good.
we have a girl in our band who plays alto and she does it sometimes and it annoies me because it sounds horrible.

Good point. Try working on vibrato until you feel you're good enough at it to play it in your band.

i use diaphram vibrato A LOT, probably due to me doing it all the time on flute. But its not that bad to do diaphram, is it? Or is jaw better?
