I named my ALTO Sax: Swiftkey
I can move the keys really fast, compared to a tenor, which can hardly move at all because of its weight :P.

I call my clarinet HIGUCHI because that's what was carved in the case when I bought it. My sax I might name something generic, like Sarah or something.

I still don't know how you people can tell whether a sax is a boy or girl...

Actually, I don't think I want to know...

My brother plays french horn. He played mellophone in pep band. I think it looks kind of like a mini baritone.

I never thought other people named their instruments, until I got to the conservatory. Apparently professional musicians like to name their instruments more often. Maybe that's because we spend so much time with it and see it as a very close friend.

Anyway, I got my first alto sax today and decided to call it Willem (William in English, after Rossini's Guillaume Tell). My first clarinet, a Buffet Evette, was called Dries. My Buffet E13 is called Arthur (after King Arthur) and my Buffet RC is called Alexander (Glazunov, Skrjabin, Borodin, The Great,...).

Only my flute and my piano have no name. The flute is such a cold instrument, it's only a tool to make music. And as for the piano, I don't really have the feeling that I own it, because anyone can play it.

I would say, don't declare someone mad or sick just because they name their instrument. It can only help us to feel more connected.
