maybe its just that the loudest oboe play at my school has a horrible tone.. but i'd have to say bassoon
and i know its a horrible tone because the other two don't sound half as bad..

GO BASSOON!!!!
I think they're awesome because they can play really low!! And they're huge!!
...I will admit, however, that the oboe is somewhat cool; when played correctly it can sound quite nice. Plus, they're reeds are totally awesome!!

i'd say bassoon, but they are really difficult not only to play but to hold as well because of their shape. Reeds are also expensive for both. Have you considered the english horn (cor anglais), they sound pretty decent...
