I play alto sax and love it, but we have 4 alto sax's in one small jazz band, I volenteered to switch to barri sax, are there any tips to make the transition smoother? I'm doing pretty good, besides the high notes and seeing my sheet music . I have to say though, the first note I played was just... awesome, I love the deep rich tone.

well the low notes take a lot more air.
a lot of notes take a lot more air, actually.
i learnt bari right after i started playing tenor.
i play bari in two bands at our school.
i didnt notice much difference.
but i've played my friends alto, they take A LOT less
air to play then tenor.
but anyhow... i think i had a point... nevermind.
just good luck with that.

dude! i switched from flute to bari sax. it is soo easy! the mouthing is easier b/c the mouthpiece is bigger. its like putting a flute straight into your mouth. no i have not done that. the fingerings are basically the same. YOU"LL LOVE IT! I PROMISE YOU THAT!
