Ok I need help from anyone who can tell me anything about Guardala Saxophones. My daughter is considering buying one from her music teacher for $2,000. He says he bought it in 1993, not sure if it was new at the time. She likes the way it feels and plays but the only other one she has played is my husband's Buescher that he played starting in 1982.
We are a Marine Corps family so this is quite an investment. Any unbiased opinions are welcome.

My brother is a good sax player and also works in the retail music business and can find pricing information for me so that you have something to compare it to.
Dave Guardala is/was a well respected saxophone mouthpiece maker and basically sold the rights to his name to a saxophone company.
My Brother tells me that they are Taiwanese made, but assembled in Germany, or something like that, and mentioned that he has heard that some of the instruments have some major tuning issues throughout. He thinks they might no longer be manufacturing the instruments either.
Dave Guardala makes great mouthpieces for sure and some sell for thousands of dollars. But I don't know much else about "his" line of instruments.
You might wanna google "Dave Guardala." He is apparently not a very honest person and has recently been scamming people out of money. He may actually even be in prison right now.
Anyway, just giving you any information I have.

I would suggest trying Selmer, Yamaha and Cannonball Saxophones as well.
