I bought a saxophone in an antique store recently (along with a flute) and I ave no idea how old it is. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find even the company that made it. It is an alto saxophone and on the bell it reads "R Malerne Paris" and its serial number is A6718
Can't tell you for sure, BUT!!!!
If the serial number series is similar to the calrinet numbering system there is a good chance it was made in the early 1940's (1943 perhaps).
