I would suggest an Antiqua Winds hands down. I bought one a couple years ago and they are just amazing. They are better than the best yamahas you can get and they cost a third of their price. They are the best out there.

try a yanagisawa 901 sereis i play tenor sax and have a t901 (a901 for alto) and it is really a good sax and is good value. it cost me about £1200 about i think that the alto is about £1100 im not sure how much in $ that is? i think it might be a bit over what you have but save, its worth the wait. i found it better than the keilworth ex90 but it is all taste! the selmers are quite good but i didnt really like the sound that much and the cheapest one in my catalog(apart from bundy which i used to rent and is a student model) was like £1900 which is really expensive! a lot of proffesionals use yani and they make relly good saxes!

I bought mine for $750 on sale and they were only like $900 regular. It is the best sax I have ever tried.

I am a 10th grader who plays a vito alto, and I was instructed by my director to upgrade to an intermediate or professional saxaphone, the director reccommended a selmer markVI, or yamaha 54/64. What do you think?

also, has anyone heard of a ZueS 650 or 670?

I`m not sure who you`re asking, but I`ll throw my two cents in. I`ve played Yamaha`s and think they`re great. I haven`t played Yani`s but know a lot of pro`s like Antonio Hart, Greg Osby & Vincent Herring are playing them.
I know Phil woods made some really strong comments in favor of the newer Yamaha`s. It all boils down to what you`re trying to achieve as a player. If you want a bright sound, go with Yamaha 62II maybe. If you want a traditional sound, maybe the Newer Yamaha Customs, Mark VI, etc. Money makes the world go `round. If money is not the object, your in luck. If it is, you need to really think it out before you spend. By the way, I don`t sell or play any of the brands I just mentioned. Just trying to swing you something to think on. Don`t sweat it too much. A good mouthpiece is very important also. http://www.saxophones.ws

Cannonballs are fairly new and exclusive to dealers only (none sold on the internet). They are extremely good saxophones based on the old Selmer Mark VI`s. Their professional model is called the Big Bell Series. They are great saxophones. Oh, their standard color is black too :P (but they come in black nickel, black w/ silver keys, black with gold keys, gold, silver with gold keys, silver, and unlacquered). Check them out at http://www.cannonballmusic.com
