Hi all,

I'm moving to NYC, and I doubt I would easily find a place that's suitable to play without making enemies with my neighbours.
I suppose I could find a park to play, but only in summer as winters there are lethal.
Do you have any tips?
Do you recommend houseshare (which i'd rather avoid) with musicians?

Oooh, tough. University? The music building in my town has a whole slew of practice rooms with pianos, soundboards, and mirrors and chances are nobody would notice if you used one for an hour or two now and again, but I dunno....

I'm in Australia and to make it easy on my neighbors I go out in the garden near the road as far from the units as possible to practice. I've even started standing out on the sidewalk playing to the traffic and pedestrians that go past. I play with my eyes closed most of the time and try not to look at people. It is a very busy road so my noise is drowned out a bit, but I still only try to practice for 1 hour at noon when I figure I won't be disturbing anyone too bad.

If I were you and in NYC I'd go busking all day and into the night if it is legal there? The practice is priceless and it might be the only way I could practice without disturbing the neighbors
