I have recently been looking at a new saxophone, a Jupiter Carnegie XL series alto model CAS-860. I really dont need a new sax my current is ok, and i will probably play it only for pep band once i start college in the fall, but i seem to think that i need to have this saxophone. Could anyone tell me if this is worth the $1,500 that I would spend on it?

To be honest, you'd be better off with a student Yamaha than a Jupiter. Jupiter's are decent horns, but they don't come close to anything Yamaha or higher end Selmers, Keilwerths, or Buffets.
