i`m a trumpet player who is interested in playing the sax in my school`s jazz band. what are some of the ways to get started from going from a brass instrument with only three keys to a woodwind with a lot? what techniques can i do to help me learn the sax easier and quicker?

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
There`s not really much you can do to make learning an instrument easier. Just like when you first started playing trumpet, you had to practice, right? Make sure you do lots of long tones (holding a note for a long time). It is usually recommended to hold them for eight beats at 60 bpm. These long tones will improve your tone on the saxophone and don`t forget scales! I also suggest getting a teacher.
Good luck,
Amy

I also play a bit of cornet and I think the saxophone is easier than brass instruments.

the saxophone fingerings are quite easy as they are virtually the same in all registers unlike other instruments like the clarinet

Ya I play clarinet and I hate how the octave key brings it up and octave and a half. If you haven`t started sax yet and aren`t going to for a while start playing some really high notes on the trumpet, on sax the sides are really tight and the middle of you mouth is pretty loose, almost the exact opposite from the trumpet, but working on the high notes on trumpet will work out the sides more than some of the lower ones. Hope I could help.
