I was wondering if anyone can teel me anything about my alto. H.N. White Co. Cleveland O. is stenciled into the bell, and the serial number on the back is C-76036.
I'm curious about the date, make, history, and quality of this sax.
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks!

Yeah, a friend has one in terribly neglected condition. It is an old horn. I believe they were sold to the Armed services at one time. Questionable intonation. Trouble with these seems to be that altough some are silver, the horns themselves suffer from some design flaws. Therefore they tend to not draw that much resale value. Plus, figure an average cost of about $ 400. for a repad that will do the horn justice and most times you'll exceed the value. If you want to read an informed account of these horns check out saxgourmet.com. The guy sells custom horns and mp's but does give an accurate account of H.N White history. I think that is probably what gives the horn value to anyone who owns one. A sense of history.
