I want to join marching band, but I don`t actually know any instruments, I want to learn alto, and can already read music, I`m geting a private tutor, do you think I`ll be playing well enough in 7-8 mo. of practice to join? And is actually marching difficult?

yes, if you practice, especially with a tutor. I had a tutor and pracitced really hard for 2 months and made first chair in jazz band, with people that had been playing like 10 times longer than me, so if you practice you should be able to do it just fine, sorry can`t help you about the marching part, not in marching, just concert on clarinet and jazz on sax. hi. yup, it would be very easy to learn alto sax with a tutor. all you have to do is to practice everyday, with or without your tutor. with regards to marching, at first it will be difficult, but you`ll get through it. i first joined the marching band, then the concert band. enjoy playing the sax. good luck

marchings not all that hard. i march tenor sax. i`d go for alto first though since its lighter and don;t forget to use a neckstrap. Marching band is awesome i think you`d be ready by that time.
