To prevent some of the damage that can be caused by saliva, it is always recommended at the end of a playing session to do a thorough swabbing job. In fact it should be a habit to remove the moisture from the horn as it is being put away. If you are having a problem with a few pads sticking, why not have them replaced with new pads if they are in bad shape. In fact that is an easy fix. Get the right pads for your horn and learn how to apply the glue too. After a few times it will be easier than tieing your shoes.
Otherwise you could use a dollar bill between the pad with slight pressure on it in the closed position. Gently sliding the dollar bill to clean the points between the pad and a tone hole. This usually works in a pinch.
Always remember swab the horn to remove moisture after each session. That will make it last longer and play well.
