okay so I play Soprano, Alto and Tenor saxophone and ive just started to get into it.
I really cannot find a good reed brand and I don't have enough money (as im a student with no job) to buy heaps and try them all out, so I was wondering if anyone could offer some help?

A difficult question & you will get a different answer from everybody. It all depends on the instrument, the mouthpiece & most importantly the player. There is no real option but to try a few. But then every reed is different even when they have the same label.
FWIW I use Vandoren 3 on my bari - I find they help me produce the sound I want & are reasonably consistent.
Good luck.

haha i know its a pretty stupid question to ask, I'm just hoping to get a general idea of what brands and strengths people prefer.

well, I recently started using Vandoren nr3 reeds for my alt sax.
I had to get used to them for a little while, but then everything went smooth.
I previously used 2,5, which also worked for me.
