Does anyone know how much of a difference there is between different Rovner ligatures? They were recommended to me by a friend but when i went on Woodwind & Brasswind`s website there were about 10 different models of Rovners. What`s the difference?

THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE MATERIAL THAT THE LIGATURE IS MADE FROM. I PERSONALLY DO NOT LIKE CLOTH OR FABRIC LIGATURES. I USE THE LOIUS FRANCOIS ULTIMATE LIGATURE`S ON ALL MY HORN`S. I HAVE JUST HAD CHANCE O SEE AN OLEGATURE FROM OLEG SAX AND ACCESSORIES. THEY ARE TOP NOTCH I WILL BE INVESTING IN ONE OF THESE SHORTLY TO RALLY COMPARE TO THE SOUND THEY OFFER. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION PICTURE THE LIG ON YOUR MPC HOLDING THE REED. THE SOUND FROM A SAX COMES FROM VIBRATIONS THRU THE REED. THE INTERIOR OF A MPC IS SHAPED TO GIVE A CERTAIN SOUND. HENCE ALL THE DIFFERENT MODELS WITH DIFFERENT SIZE CHAMBERS AND BAFFLES. TO ME A FABRIC LIG ADDS A LAYER OF BAFFLING TO THE MPC AND MUTES THE SOUND. WHERE AS LIKE MY LOUIS FRANCOIS THE LIG HAS VERY MINIMAL CONTACT WITH THEMPC AND ALLOWS A CLEANER MORE FREE SOUND. THE OLEGATURE THAT I SAW WRAPS AROUND BUT THE METAL GIVES A HARD CRISP SOUND THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO MUTE THE SOUND AS A FABRIC LIG DOES. MAYBE ALL IN MY HEAD BUT THAT IS MY PERSPECTIVE. BEST THING IS COMPARE YOUR TYPE OF MUSIC AND SEE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN SOUND AND TRY THEM UNTIL YOU HEAR WHAT YOU WANT YOUR MUSIC TO SOUND LIKE.
