I compared all the hrons out there and I recently bought the Yani 9930 solid sterling sporano. It is great. Can change the neck to straight and get a crisper brighter sound. Go to the curved neck and mutes and softens the overall sound. The silver is more upkeep but if you do it daily or every time you play nothing real hard. Awesome horn. Have put an Ottolink Doc tenney & facing with Louis Francois lig and Superial Classique # 3 reeds. The combination is perfect. Other than the Yani I would have bought a Yamaha. They have great sound and intonation.

Yanagisawa all the way. They are the number 1 selling soprano because they stay in tune greatly. I have a vintage yanagisawa curved soprano and it sounds great, like Kenny G. I am serious, i got a recording of me and people thought it was Kenny G. Yanagisawa is great. I hope this was a help.

I am selling a curved yanagisawa sax for 1450 which is a great deal. I do not know how old it is. It has all lacquer and one scratch. It is a very easy blowing horn and this will be the lowest price ever.Other wise it is in wonderful condition. Please email me at Lotsofcookies2001@yahoo.com if you have any questions or if you are interested. Thanks

I had a straight sop by Monique. Great inotonation and keywork, a little light for my touch. Everyone says Monique Pro when auctioning off or selling, however some of the horns are the intermediate models that may not play as well as the pro line. I have a pro line alto that plays as easy as breathing. Had a few adjustments done for upper register, but a great horn for the price.

Now i am confused. I`ve heard Monique stinks, and then the other guy said the pro line is good. I`ve found a nickle plated pro-line sop, but it sells in eight hours. $400. Good?

Ive heard the same thing. Some swear by monique, others hate them. I think im gonna plunk down 500 for a monique tenor sax and just find out myself. I`ll just sell it to some jr high band student if it sucks.

Typically the Monique and other cheap horns are inconsistent. You might get a good one, you might not. Also, I understand that the brass is a softer alloy in the cheaper horns and this makes them more susceptible to being bent to an unplayable and unrepairable condition.

I have a Yanigisawa 991 that is great. Intonation is consistent and a very nice tone. I bought mine mail order from Mathews Music in the Netherlands for about $1900 although I think they are higher than that now.

Basically, as in all other areas of life, you get what you pay for. There is a reason some brands are less expensive and others cost more. In any case, you shoud always have the option of play testing your horn.
