Hello. I have been playing the alto saxophone for about three years now. Before that I played the clarinet for two. Because of this I have a fair amount of experience with playing instruments. At this point I want to upgrade my instrument. The Bundy II just doesn`t seem very magical. My question is...What instrument(brand) should I upgrade to? I really have no clue. Well...I guess I do... I know that the True-Tone may be a good choice, or an Aristocrate model. But I really don`t know. Please could you give me any advice on what to upgrade to. Just to say, I would like to spend around $350.00...I plan to use eBay. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! -Casey

350.00.....? You will probably not get a good solid horn for that, not even double that....maybe you should save up for more.

$350.00 shouldn`t be a problem. Research different modles. I would suggest Yamaha, but you could check out what brands some of your favorite artists play. Ebay is really good, it`s where i got my horn. Lots of times there are people on there selling horns that they only played once a week in gigs for a year and have desided to sell it for what ever reason, normally they price them low with hopes that a younger student will buy it, it`s their way of passing on a tradition. Good Luck!

I just saw a guy on ebay selling some black and white (two different saxes) laquer(sp) alto saxes. They were helmke`s, both were great saxes, both had high f# key, when I first looked at them I thought he was trying to yank your chain, but he is really just giving a good deal. they were around 295 or so, i`d say jump on it, he also had some silver plated tenors he was selling, there are links for all of them from this site http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2367314268
this site if for the black laquer one if I remember.

first of all ne sax is pretty much better than a bundy II. the only thing u could do worse is a bundy I or jean baptiste. if you could get like 50 to 100 more dollars you could get an awsome yamaha model 23 alto for around 400 on Ebay.yamaha`s will last you a very long time. and its the best brand on the market in its price range. its only competitor is yanagiswa which is still much for expensive and the ever popular selmer *my favorite*

What is the problem with BundyII alto saxophones? Its kinda leveled out on people loving them and hating them.

Why not spend your $ on a better mouthpiece? Bundy`s are solid horns. You can trick it out with a pro mouthpiece, leather pads, resonators, blue steel springs -- spend a little at a time. I have a bundy2 bari (one of those epoxy jobs) and it ROCKS with all the stuff I just mentioned. Plus I have tons more cash than any cat with a mk6!
