I play alto and im switching to tenor. My instructor told me to get one from one of these brands:
Yamaha
Jupiter
Keilwerth
Selmer
King
or A new model Vito

I`m aiming towards the jupiter 687GN or the Keilwerth ST90, because of the price.

NEVER buy a Jupiter! They are cheaply made and aren`t very good. Get a Yahama if you can, if not then I suggest going for a Selemer.

I`ve played on all three and out of all of them my jupiter sounds the best... each sax is made a little differently so if you just shop around and test them for tone you`ll see which you like best for yourself.

I suggest you get a Cannonball tenor sax if you want it to last for a long time and have a great sound. I just got mine and it rocks. It`ll last me many many years. It`s worth the price even if its expensive it`ll be worth it or think of the Aristocrat.

Selmer are the best Sax`s you can get! Antoine Sax invented the sax by adapting a brass clarinet to play in octaves rather than twelths and to include the rotary valve system that his father,Charles Sax, invented. He patented his new design `The Saxophone` in 1840. But due to lawsuits and pure gelousy from his rivels it was a flop.
In 1848, on the edge of becoming bankrupt an anonymus benefactor gave Sax a large some of money to pay his workers but when the benefactor died he was demanded to pay all the money back and it ended in him fleing to london to pleed his innocence by post. He returned to paris in 1850 (followed by even more legal battles) and the Saxophone started to creep back into the market but in 1873 his patent had expired and faced bankruptcy a second time. Sax died in 1894 and left his factory to his son who sold it to the Henri Selmer Company in 1928. So as you all know now the sax we all play and love is because of selmer, they have the know how and have been making sax`s for a hell of alot longer than any other company. so how can anyone else`s sax even compare to the selmer?

During Sax`s liftime he on many occations challenged other insturment makers to produce the insturment know as the saxophone themselves. THEY ALL FAILED.
