Hi, I really would appreciate your advice. I`ve always used the plastic mouthpieces that have come provided with the saxophones. But recently, I only thought it was a few people, I`ve noticed practicaly everybody is using mouthpieces they`ve bought themselves. Eg. One person i asked about his mouthpiece and he told me it is a strong rubber `ebonite` or something. Also he had a metal one.
I`ve been told it helps you reach the `high` notes much much better - improving the tone and quality of them.
I would really appreciate any advice about these as basically i know nothing about them - plus, they are quite expensive!
If you could provide any info about them i`d be very grateful, thanks.

It all depends on your style, type of music you are playing and embrouchure strength. If you are playing more concert band stuff try a Selmer C*, metal tends to work better for jazz to give off a more brassy or raspy tone.

It depends on you price range. I have a preimer de hite, which is like an intermediate mouthpeice. As for metal, I just got one last week and it rocks! Not for concert band though, a metal one has a certain bite usually.
As for a good plastic one, I guess that I have the same question.
