I have been playing Alto and Clarinet for about 8 years. I am more serious about the alto and have a 1929 Martin. I currently use a size 5 Otto link, but it feels as if i am outgrowing it. I have been to one music store and tried a 6 and a 6star rubber Otto Link, but i didnt like the sound. I also tried a 6 metal otto link, and loved it. I guess my style ranges from Kenny Garrett, Chris Potter, and Ornette Coleman. I was wondering if anyone had advise of helpful information about this mouthpeices and others. I have also been looking at companies such as Meyer, Selmer, E. Rousseau(jazz ones), and Yanagisawa

Thanks!

One of my friends has a Selmer S90 for the classical sound and has Selmer Jazz sliver for jazz, each sound very nice and smooth when he plays for the certain style, (can find these 2 types here http://www.wwbw.com/category/?sr=1&d=9&dd=954727687&c=954725856&sc=&b=&o=price&qso=1) you may want to click around and search through it a little for your style of play and how much you`re willing to pay for the mouth piece

Try this site here http://www.wwbw.com/category/?sr=1&d=9&dd=954727687&c=954725856&sc=&b=&o=price&qso=1 my friend uses Selmer S90 and the Selmer jazz sliver, both sound really nice and smooth when he plays weather for the jazz sound or classical one with the S90, however you may want to look through the different styles to find what ever style you are looking for.

I recently went shopping for an alto mouthpiece myself...I tried a few Links and some Meyers...By far the best sound I got was from the meyer hard rubber. Of course its just a matter of preference and depends on what kinda sound youre lookin for...I do jazz myself and I find it to be properly balanced for my needs...Good luck!

I know a guy who plays on a metal SR Tech mouthpiece with a Mark VI and does just fine. But i truly think the best jazz sax sound, no matter what genre, comes from a Meyer. Can`t go wrong.

well sorry guys but i gotta represent the otto link here.i`m a die hard link fan. i was using an otto link 6* for quite a few years until a sudden marching accident had its way with my mouthpiece...newayz i moved upo to a otto link 7* and i like it even more. best buy you will ever make. then again...this was for tenor, and the link gives off a very smooth and subtle tone. not quite the tone needed by lead alto. still i ejoy the smoothness so i say Otto Link

^Key word being tenor. Otto Link for tenor all the way, but again stick with the hard rubber for alto.
