I started alto sax 8 months ago, but I only know how to play Bb and Eb, can anyone tell me what keys I use to play at least some others?

Any beginner book will give you the fingerings you want, you can also check with your music teacher... But learn your flats in this order
Ab
Db
Gb
Cb

Hi!
First of all, great choice. Saxophone is the best instrument by far! Well, that`s what I think... anyway... I like all saxophone players, so I`m going to help you!

Ab is also G#, and you can play Ab by pressing the keys for G (1, 2, 3) and pressing the top spatula key (the spatula keys are the ones where your left pinky is).

Db is the same thing is C#, and you can play Db by not pressing any buttons at all.

Gb is the same thing as F#, and you can play Gb like... on your left hand (top hand) press the key for the first, second, and third finger (like G) and then on your right hand press the key under your middle finger.

Cb is the same thing as B natural... and same goes for Fb, which is just "E"

Oh yeah and that person was right. You should learn the flats in that order: B, E, A, D, G, C, and F. Because that will help you a lot when you have to learn all your scales and if you want to learn concert names for pitches and all that stuff. And you can ask your teacher to show you flats and stuff or search for a fingering chart on yahoo.com or something. ALright then. Good lesson~

Oh and don`t punch the keys! Just press them! Don`t damage saxophones.

http://www.appx27.dsl.pipex.com/Saxtutor/homepage.htm

Shareware sax tutor program, showing complete fingering charts for all notes/ fingerings for all keys, chords, scales and more. So cheap you could almost buy it.

yeah, thanks everyone, I just realized though, you know... Ab same as G# and all that, ha I was just being silly, learned on the violin, just didn`t apply it to the sax. Enharmonic. But thank you SO much anyways. If I checked back before I realized it, you would have been the biggest help in the world!
