Is it much more difficult for a beginner to play tenor with a begginerwho plays alto as opposed to both playing tenor or both playing alto because of the key difference? Or is it not really an issue?

i didn`t find it an issue when my friend and i started out. of course, we both had electronic tuners so we wouldn`t get too confused...just know that when he plays a C and when you play a C they`ll sound different....when he plays a C you`ll have to play a G to match him...

yall are right the notes are all a fifth off from each other. after a while you get used to transposing though--my brother plays trumpet and it is in the same key as a tenor and i play alto

well I started out playin alto..... but then i also started playin tenor... except i was playin it with people well that wernt advanced...... i dont think it was difficult at all..... all you have to do is listen and concentrate on what your instruments doing....,.... dont pay that much attention to the other instruments.... unless ur seeing if your at the right place in the music and not ahead or behind..
