I have the same problem, I get down to the b though. I have to play loud to get them out too. So, maybe it`s just normal. There probably is a way to get them out and still play quiet, but if there is a way I haven`t figured it out yet.

You may have an air leak, or something out of adjustment.
From your brief description it sounds as if the G# & related pads adjuster with them could be out of adjustment. This is a common area of problems.
On internediate/pro horns these can be adjusted. Normally on beginner horns it requires the sax tech to properly, and painstakingly, cut the right length of cork to make everything perfect.

alot of times it can just be the sax becuase if you picked up another one you might have a slighty different range if like there is just one tiny little thing out of place on it it can screw it up.

Good points. Try it on someone else`s sax first.. with your mouthpiece reed combination. Then try theirs if they will let you.
Tell us how it goes.

If no leaks nor G# key problem, try lower # mouthpiece and or softer reed. Yawn concept is good.
