Er... I`ll try to be more helpful than the dude above.

1) Kenny G plays with the side of his mouth. If you watch him play, you`ll notice that his mouthpiece is more towards to right. (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/breath/Faces_asthma/present_images/VIIB10.gif). I think this helps to get a smoother sound out. It kinda hurts playing like that for a while though.

2) I`ve heard that Kenny G uses diaphram vibrato to get his sound.

3) Equipment. Try to use a fairly soft reed.

4) Practice like crazy.

irritating tone, noodling technique, unclear lines, NO articulations, NO dynamic contrasts, NO SOUL!!!! Grover Washington Jr. is 6 years dead but he could still spank Kenny G`s sorry little ass any day!

Yeah, that`s why he wouldn`t go here, because he makes piles of $$$, and piles of sh!t (his music). I don`t like Kenny G, myself, but I won`t get into a flaming debate about why or why not.

seriously Kenny G isnt that great there are so many better players Coltrane, Liebman, Shorter, check those cats out and stop listening to kenny G all your doing is learning how to play sharp

Wow. Get a MArk VI soprano and a Dukoff mouthpiece and you can sound like kenny g. thats just the most brillant idea ive heard in awhile. its called freaking air people. put charlie parker on a bundy II and he would still sound amazing. Ive heard many crappy people playing mark VI`s. And by the way. keeny g blows. listen to a real saxophone player.

nothing special about my setup other than the mouthpiece
i can also get that sound with a plastic mouthpiece so i think its just how much control you have
