I want to know whether saxophone`s embouchure is easier to learn than Clarinet?

How about Soprano compared with alto, alto with tenor?

Please share your experience and idea as I am going to try saxophone and/or clarinet.

Thanks!!

Technically the sax is easier, because it is looser. But let me put this simple, PLAY THE CLARINET! If you start with the clarinet and get good at it then you can pick up the sax later on and it will be way easy, the first time I played sax I practiced for 3 weeks and made it first chair in my schools jazz band over people that had been playing for up to 3 years. Later

Interesting question. I`ve been playing alto since 1974, Clarinet, tenor & sop since 80 (?) and I`d have to say that I`ve never really noticed ?!?!?!

But I think he`s right, the clarinet is tighter * it`s at a different angle too. But then I do have a smaller mouth (some say otherwise) becz i have to remind myself all the time on the looser tenor mpc, less so than alto, and no thinking on sop.

So would could summize by asking "How big of mouth do you have ??"

Saxophone is a much looser embouchure. Clarinet is tighter. And for that reason I don`t really like playing clarinet. I`ll play flute before I play a clarinet. A flute`s embouchure is different too.

Sorry .. i don`t get on 8notes much.

The embouchure on the sop, alto and tenor are similar but different. Due to the size of the mouthpiece itself. I have a harder time on tenor becz i have a smaller mouth and have to open a bit more then alto, and less so on soprano. and i have to keep reminding myself of that while playing.

The technique is the same but for some it`s easier here or there. Clarinet is more steady jaw.
