hello, I`ve decided i want to start playing saxophone. so i guess this is the right place to ask questions
ok, allow me to start from the begining.
im 17 years old now, and I`m playing the piano for the last few years, and for about an year also the guitar, and the thing is that I`ve come to realise that i like it that much(the guitar, i love!! the piano). and i really want to play the saxophone. and there a few things I would like to ask.
what are the differences bitween alto sax and tenor sax(if you can a link to an article would be great)?
what are the prices for beginner saxophones?
what should i prefer, to start with a teacher right away or to investigate a bit by myself before taking a teacher?
well, thats all i thing, thanks!!

Alto sax is smaller than tenor and tenor has a better tone and a good beginner sax can be any where from 1,000$ to 2,000$

If you buy smart the beginning sax-Tenor-will be about 300 dollars or less on let`s say e-bay. a beginning Alto could get around 150-250, on ebay.

Alto`s smaller and higher than tenor. Tenor is also Bb where alto is Eb. A lot of people think that the tenor has a better tone, but it really depends on how YOU play. So don`t worry about that. Really, you can get a pretty good begginer alto for 500-750 dollars. I hope I helped,

Good for you. Joe Defranchesco (spelling?) was inspired to play trumpet from Miles Davis and was well into his pro career as a Jazz Pianist extraordinaire. I think he was recording in two no more than four years. Unbelievable! I have a great buffet for sale at Band2Day.com I would take $390. Great condition and tone. This would be a real good horn to start with being that you will probably be more intuitive and particular with your playing than a typical beginner. If you don`t like it, I`ll refund your money minus shipping. I have a home based business and use e-bay also. I`m ID verified. I have played Sax since 1980 and also play some rhythm guitar among other instruments. You can call me toll free at 1-866-286-3232.

I am also playing sax (alto), for almost a year now. It is becoming a addiction for me. I can advise you to take some lessons at a music school and to practice a lot at home. It is very easy to find out, what you are doing right/wrong. I hope you will try it, because it is a very special thing to do.

I had gotten my Bundy II for less than $200. Of course, my new horn, the Oleg, was $4500.

A hand made oleg is an amazing new horn. Oleg, with 3 assitants, make them with their own hands.
