Hey,
I`ve been playing 5-6 years now and I`ve got most of the Sax techniques and scales under controle but i was wondering, does anyone know any cool or smooth sound effect that i could do to spice up my impros ? I`m not very good at improvisation solos yet, but I`m starting to get that sax-feeling. I`ve heard the famous sax players do really cool effects (like in Autumn leaves etc), how do I start with learning those ? Does anyone know that ? Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Thnx,
- Enric

well... i no of a couple that will help "spice" ur music up..,lol..... if you can gargle the back of your thoat while blowing in the mouthpiece...or La into it (when people sometimes have acents they might like do some kinda slurring thing with there tongue)while blowing into it... it will make like a like i dont know how to explain it... like a smooth crackly sound..(simialar to the autumn one you tlked about)....but this sound id very hard to achieve and will take time to learn... if you have a sAx teacher ask him/her about it... and tell her the instructions i just gave you... and he/she should know what your tlkin about..... or if you likesnap your tongue kinda thing (like the thing you do with your mouth to make a snap sound) and blow into it it will sound cool.

If you want some cool ideas for sax techniques, look at Michael Brecker`s "Delta City Blues" or any of James Carter`s stuff
