I dont know how to play any instrument but I`d like to learn and start on saxophone alto, I hope it`s not too late for a 32 year old guy. Any advice or words of encouragement.
I started to look around for sax-alto, ebay, local store.
Any teacher around San Diego as well?
THANKS!!!

nope, not too old. You`re never too old to learn.

What yearnings do you have to play the sax? Do you want to play it for your own enjoyment, to play stuff in front of other people, etc.?

Most ppl either opt for alto or tenor, but tenor is more sweet sounding for most ppl.

btw, I`m 38 myself and have been playing on/off since 1974.

sax is easier to pick up if you have played another woodwind in the past (especially flute or clarinet b/c the fingerings are almost exactly the same)

but if you havn`t, id go for a rental at first to see if you want to invest in a good one later on.

as for the kind, IMHO i think tenor is much better. (i play it in jazz band)

sax is not hard to learn as opposed to other woodwinds, but its a great instrument

**but im a clarinet player**

What is the hardest woodwind to learn and play out of the sax, clarinet and the flute.
I played the flute 20 years ago when I was a kid but did not keep it up.I have played keyboards and the piano for the last 10 years and now im thinking of either the clarinet or the sax.

Daz
