Hi everyone. I`m very interseted in learning to play the saxophone, and when I did a search on ebay I came across the brand names Helmke, Remstein, and Deura. If anyone has experience with these saxes, would you recommend them to someone who is just starting out. I`m looking to purchase either an alto or a tenor. Thanks for your help.

I`ve heard of Helmke. Which are the cheaper taiwan horns. Never heard of the other ones.
After sales service may be a problem.

If you are looking for a cheaper horn then may I suggest you buy a horn from http://www.kesslermusic.com They offer fantastic support and after sales support, and offer some great horns at great prices (they skip some of the middle men).

I don`t work for them or have any connection to them. But I did buy a soprano sax from them. They also have provided great service and knowledge to other ppl i`ve chatted with.

I think buying from a regular brick & mortar store would be better than off eBay or anything. Some of the places in NY are kinda shady too - but that could happen anywhere. I also found out that we are now being infiltrated by horns made in India .... cheaply made but expensive shipping apparently is the trend with those.

Hope that helps
