Hi I need some help. I have 2 questions.
1. What is the range of a BARITONE sax?
2. Are the fingerings the same as an alto sax?
I need to because the school band I`m in needs a baritone and my brother plays alto sax and I play flute and piano so the instructor is going to try and find a baritone and if he does I likly I going to be the one playing because I already know some bass notes from playing piano and my brother can help me. Any help or advice given would be great.

The range is an octave below the alto, the fingerings are the same except for the most extreme tones - the beritone even has a low A!

The range is low A to high F, F sharp if you have the right key.

AS far as i know, all saxophones have the same fingering systems. added keys usually include a high F# on all pro saxophones, but some students, and a Low A on all pro baritone saxophones. i play a bari sax, and you dont need to know the bass clef. the bari sax is pitched in Eb and reads off of the treble clef, like alto sax flute, and usually your right hand on the piano. hope this helps

Fingering is the same for the entire range of sax.
Bari saxes either have low A or Bb, depending on the model. Most modern ones are made with the low A, although it still is possible to find Bb horns being made. Most professional ones are keyed to F#, though some intermediate ones (Yamaha`s YBS-52) are keyed to F, while some older ones (c. 1900?) were keyed to high E. I`ve never heard any keyed to only C, however.
Hope that helps.

I play the bari, and it`s the best! The fingerings are the same as alto and tenor, but it takes quite a mouth to really get it down.

Yes, it is possible for the bari to reach the low g. They are not made to do so, but I have seen a bass sax modified to do so. Some extra metal and it can be done.
