Dear all, I plan to learn the Saxophone alto, but not yet ot buy the saxophone. the Salesman tols me that it is better than to buy one with the F# key on hte saxophone, say Yamaha 275 or 475, rather tahn the Yamah 23 which do not have this key
do anyone advice that this key is important in the future? is it necessary
pls advsie as I ma new on saxophone

it doesnt matter its up to u its up to u but the 23 is a over priced sax u should go 475 or 62 if u want yamaha.

Never see the f# key. You must hear the sound, lots of players have got the f# key, but never use it!!! because it has got different tone - or not...

Well, The F# key is only there depending on how u finger the higher notes...if u prefer them on the palm keys, then sure go for it..but if u like to use the front F, and those combinations for ur high Es, Ds and Fs then don`t bother with it. Although it does come in handy when u got a long fast passaage of high notes, the F# key can work wonders...sorta

If you are just starting than don`t worry about it. You could just pick one up at a garage sale and we you get better get a better sax. If you end up not liking it, than you wasted a lot of money.

Yeah, I wouldn`t get one. If you are just starting it is a waste of money. You won`t be (sorry this is the only way to put it) good enough to use it for a few years, and then if you are really good at the sax you don`t evern really need the F# key, there are other tricks to playing it.
