Hey everyone. I`m Charles. I`m a freshman in college and I`ve been playing all the saxes since 6th grade, so that would be somewhere around 7-8 years. Those are looking for stuff to play, try playing by ear. Listen to a song, and go off that. It`s hard, but worth the work if you want to be better. Scales, technique, and practice are always a good idea. Remember, tone above all. Email me if you have any questions about alto-bari sax. I`m not a big tenor guy or soprano. I`m currently rewriting some music for the Eb saxes, so keep in touch if you want anything. I`ll see what I can do.

Thanks Charles    00:41 on Saturday, July 17, 2004

You`ve been playing for that long. Wow I just started this year. ( 6th grade) I get so frustrated because the alto sax takes so much breath support. And although I`ve got plenty of breath I some times find it hard to breath through my diafram support it and not get dizzy.

what might help is breathing excersises. work on control. take deep breaths, and exhale at a constant speed for as long as possible. if you can sustain a solid exhale for at least 8 beats at 60 bpm, you`re doing good. it took me awhile to exhale for 24 counts going at 50.

Once again thanks    01:50 on Saturday, July 17, 2004

Once again thanks! I`ll try that. I`m going to band camp tomorrow and we have to have a piece ready to perform. I chose Scarboruogh fair and Ode to Joy as my back up. Scarbourough fair is one of my favorites but takes a lot of breath support!

Well Alexandria vr, good luck with that. I love band camp. The one for UNL starts in a few weeks, and I have to do my final auditions then. So I`m really excited about that. Here`s the thing with music..don`t always get easy music. the only way to get better is to play harder and harder music as your skills progress. And always work on your basics(i.e. scales, arpeggios, articulation, etc.).

alright I`ll remeber that    18:54 on Saturday, July 17, 2004

I don`t always get the easy music I find it better to challenge yourself aswell. In fact I`m looking for Bakers Street. It`s got an awesome sax solo. Don`t know what kind but I fully intend to find out. My teacher said scales and arpeggios are good warm ups. I find them tedious though I`ll get to them though for know I`m working on my small piece so I can be sorted.

Thanks for the advice Charles

If anyone is interested in sax music, there`s an awesome sax combo called Jericho. If I remember correctly, it`s for two altos, a tenor, and a bari. It`s pretty decent and somewhat of a challenge for beginning players. I have other stuff too, so hit me up on my email if you want some good sax tunes.

Of course they`re huge. Something with that much power can`t be small.
