Need a good alto saxophone

Hello.

I`ve been playing the alto saxophone for seven years now, and I think that this beginner-level Bundy II I`ve been playing on for all this time might not be the best saxophone for me. I`m looking to get a new (but not too pricey...) alto, perhaps with good intonation and whatnot. An intermediate-level saxophone at least. Any suggestions.

Try looking into Yamaha. They might cost a little more. But its worth it.

Kinda pricey...

I`m not looking for the best saxes, but at least one that isn`t a student-level saxophone. I`ve got that Bundy II, a Yamaha, and an old Buescher, and they`re all student saxes.

Hey, you should consider trying an LA-Sax I hear their Burnished Brass and Black nickel are really stirring up a storm. They also come with the High G if that interests you. Are also very affordable. Their craftsmenship has improved greatly in the last 3-4 years. Good Luck and Happy hunting!

Yamaha is nice but it is pricey, take a look at the Yanagisawa`s, they have great high quality sax`s for a more reasonable price.

Keilwerth`s are pretty good for their buck. They`re pretty reasonably priced - the ones I`ve seen aren`t more than $3000.

The prices on this site are in British pounds, so you may have to convert the prices (if you don`t already live in Britain).

Good luck!

Sure, there are some great websites in Britain, but with the current exchange rates, you`d have to be crazy to actually buy anything. That`s assuming you can even get the companies to post outside the UK. A lot of them seem to think the world ends at Dover!

I`m in Italy and I buy almost everything from the USA. It`s not just the exchange rate. I`m sick of working my way through British websites, having to register, give email addresses etc and then being informed that they don`t deliver outside the UK.

I`m currently buying french clarinets from the USA. It`s not that they`re cheaper. I just can`t find the bl**dy things in France! Isn`t the EU wonderful!

Yamaha shmamaha. Get yourself a good vintage sax like a Conn 6m or a Buescher 400. You`ll be paying far less money for a horn comparable to (if not succeeding) that of a new selmer or yamaha.

Yamaha saxophones sound great and they last a long time.
