Try using a different brand of reid like Van Dorin (can't spell). Also the quality of your instrument, sometimes just buying a higher quality of mouth piece will increase the tone dramatically, but then again, it comes down to the player and how you vibrate your lips.
About a previous question from someonee else... What does the Soprano Sax sound like... Just listen to any Kenny G album.
I just bought a soprano sax today! $350 Australian dollars thats like $275 US.. Instruments are so cheap at the moment... Can't wait to teach myself, hmm considering I'm a Clarinet and Oboe player, think it should be interesting, I also bought a flute last week too for $75US.... Let the fun begin, new past time hobby.
