can a tenor saxophone blow the highest note that an alto saxophone can play?
will a beginner horn affect my progress?? coz i`m joining marching band so i heard that beginner`s models are tougher and more suitable for marching...
anyway.. my location is Malaysia, and my band isn`t a school band... it`s a youth group marching band... so we`re not really a classy band .. (no tuba, etc. ) ... but i would like to improve on the saX. i`m currently playing euphonium (smaller version of tuba) ....

yes the range of a tenor saxophone is the same as an alto. and also it is good to march with a student sax because they are made to take more of a beating than the professional saxes. as for if it will effect your playing it wont unless there is something wrong with the sax. hope this helps!

saying it has the same range is true, and not so true. The fact is, tenor is 5 semi tones below an alto, I believe. So basically your F on the alto wwill sound higher, also..by nature altos have a brighter, higher sound. IT also depends on your mouth piece, and whether or not you`re vcounting altissimo register or overtones.
