Are you kidding? Claude Lakeys are known for their incredible brightness, at least the rubber ones we were playing on. My high school band teacher couldn`t believe the difference in brightness when I switched to my yanagisawa metal mouthpiece. Claude Lakeys are among the brightest sounding mouthpieces out there.

VB couldn`t stop yelling at Joe and I, who both had Claude Lakeys, to not have our tone so bright, we both had to make more of an "O" sound with our embrochure to create a darker tone for concert band. But I don`t have that problem since I switched mouthpieces.

Maybe it was just me then, I got the darkest topne in the world with that moutpiece, now i get a brighter sound with my Yani....go figure, also 6 is a lot darker than your 7, so there is a difference.

A size 6 does have a much darker tone than does a size 7. That is completely true.

Hey guys! Have u ever tried CRYSTAL mouthpieces. They briten your sound at a resonable price! I us a rovner, crystal mouthpiece, and vandoren reeds (3 1/2). Have u tried changing reeds, maybe a harder reed will require more air. Play on that for a while, and get used to it. Then go back to soft reeds. Believe me, you`ll sound great!!!
(Ive had 5 years expiriance)
