hi, is there anyone who can tell me something about soprano sax?
the conducter asked me to play the soprano sax (I already play the flute, piccolo and alto sax)
so I want to know where I can get a fingering chart, or is it the same as alto sax?
Is it hard to play soprano sax? I have only a few weeks before we have a performance.
thanks a lot,
Joyce

No, all saxophones are fingered the same. I`m guessing the the embrochure (forgive me for spelling) is different obviously. You should be fine, I haven`t played a soprano before so I really don`t know for sure. :/

Hi
The fingering is the same so you should have no probs there, but the embochure is tighter that alto so you will need to put some practice in before the gig. Give it a go thoughas it is good fun and you will enjoy..

I had to do something like that, except I bought the soprano first. It`ll take some practice to be able to tune it, but mine was worse to tune then most i think, it is a 1940`s curved. Be sure to warm up with it before you play; I played alto and sop in a concert after not having the sop for very long, and if I didn`t warm up, I couldn`t play sop, because I was so used to alto. Hope it helps!

Hi I play the tenor, alto, beri sax, clarinet, and the soprano. The soprano has the same fingering chart as the other saxs. and its not hard all you need to do is practice to get your pitch right and you`ll be fine.

First of all, I think you could never pick up an unfamiliar instrument, and be able to play it well enough with just a couple of weeks. Every sax is different in its own ways, and Im saying that from past experiences. Also sop. is in Bb, and alto is in Eb. So you would hear note differences even though you are fingering the notes the same on the alto and sop. Hope it helps!

I`ve tried a soprano sax and it`s still lying in its gig case now, I really feel not so good to play it ...
two thing: first it requires more air I think ,which may make you run out of breath after hours of playing . Second if you dont pay attentions when choosing your mouthpieces and reeds , it will be a great difficulty to play HIGH PITCH NOTES , may be a better saxophone will do better...
Anywawy if you`re using a "small open" mouthpiece and a large number reed ,for example 3 1/2 ,say . It`s just about impossible to play a high C (the one with only your left thumb and middle finger)
p.s. Excuse me for my spellin, I`m just a forein guy ...
and what does "sop" mean ?~......... thanx ...
