I`m a college student who is in the marching band/basketball band/wind ensemble and I have a dilemma. I`m looking at two different brands of professional Yamaha saxophones, the 62II ($1700) and the 82Z($2200). The 62 is cheaper but to my knowledge, the 82 is better than the 62. I may have to end up trading my old student model Selmer alto in for a new one, so most likely the new one will have to be used for marching band. I really need some help on this decision.

Are you using it for anything more than marching band?

If so then I`d say choose one that fits both categories but if it`s just for marching band consider all the hard ship that instrument will go through.

Rough bus rides, rain, sitting in the bleachers, sitting on the ground, etc.

I`m going to use it for the wind ensemble as well as the basketball band. We don`t really travel at all for marching band (I think my college band may travel once next year). I`ve pretty much made up my mind on getting the 82z. Thanks for all of your help.
