hey i`m a self-thought clarinetist.... and now i have my own alto sax, so i`m trying to self-learn again.... i can get nearly all the notes except low C and low B.... am i being affected by the clarinet embouchure or what?

n the neckstrap is a bit too short... are there longer ones??? i`m using the one given in a Yamaha YAS-23 ..

my boyfriend is a sax player and has been playing longer than me. but when my band director switched him from alto to tenor he could not get the low notes. all you have to do is loosen up your embrochure, and sometimes it helps by pointing your chin either up or down. but the best thing to do is practise!

I used to have that problem with tenor, except it was low F and down, which made me a rather obselete player. However, my teacher told me two 1) loosen up 2) This will sound odd, but if you kind`of purse your lips (if you do it off the mouthpiece you can feel the taught muscle) on the mouthpiece I found it helped a ton. But, to tell you the truth, it`s probably because low B and C take a fair amout of building up and experiance to play well and consistantly. (took me three or four years after starting sax to be able to)
