Switching to tenor sax should not be
difficult, although a switch to alto
would be a bit easier. You will need
a much looser embouchure. Fingering
on sax is very similar to that of
clarinet over the break, but some of
the low notes may throw you at first.
The angle of the mouthpiece is also
different, as the clarinet is held
down, close to the body, the sax
mouthpiece comes out of the mouth at
close to a 90 degree angle. You will
also find that your air will be more
free blowing on sax as there is much
less resistance.

He`s right. Its note to hard to change. I`ve only played clarenet twice, but each time I play I improveed a TON. I could also play a contrabass-claranet without much problem. I`ts quite fun to switch around; try it!

I play both tenor sax and clarinet.
It was and still is the easiest switch I`ve ever done.
Both are in the same key and tech. only changes I ever had to deal with was the fingerings...lol.
When I was your age I played both in symphonic band and in the middle of concerts would switch out the instruments.

I play mainly clarinet at a university major level but I also play every other band intsrument imaginable and I made the switch from Tenor to clarinet and it was really easy for me. A lot of the fingerings are the same then again it would be the same with alto as well. Do what you want if you want to play tenor go for it!
