Does anyone know what the best alto brands are?

It depends on if you are talking about professional, beggining, or intermediate saxes. The best beggining sax is the Yamaha YAS-23. The best professional are these: Selmer Superaction Series II or III, or Yamaha (I forgot the model).

I`d say a good beginer sax is a bundy or a bundy II. There are a lot though.
Professional; Selmer, Keilworth, Yamaha, LA sax... list goes on. Selmer mark VI`s from the 50`s are especailly good, I think they are the best.
Yamaha YAS-875 are real nice to.
