I have been playing sax for about half of a year, I`m not that bad because I`ve been playing flute before, and I know how to control the air stream, most of the fingerings and all that. Also, I`ve been listening to Kenny G for a while. I always loved his sound, so I decided to get a soprano sax. But,I`m only 14, and my dad won`t get me one. I was like, screw that, I`m gonna try it on my alto sax.
I have a regular cheap alto sax that I got for about 300 dollars, and I made my first kenny g sound today!
Here`s how I do it:
1: Whatever kind of alto sax
2: whatever kind of mouthpiece
3: 3.0 REED
4. Close lips tight on the edges
5. Move middle of the slower lip forward
I think that`s how I made the Kenny G sound, it was, if not exactly, 95% the same. Hope this helped some of yall.
